Iran’s 24th annual Oil Show was held May 1-4 against the backdrop of tough US sanctions on the country’s petroleum

sector. The Tehran International Permanent Fairgrounds welcomed 1,047 Iranian and 106foreign companies. Iran’s Petroleum Minister BijanZangeneh, addressing the inauguration, said thecountry had never used the oil market as a politicaltool. “Anyone using oil as a political tool will have toaccount for its consequences as well,” he saidThe US pulled out of Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal withsix world powers last May and reimposed sanctionson Tehran. Washington also ended sanctions waiversgranted to several buyers of Iranian oil in a bid tomaximize its pressure on Iran and bring Iran’s oilexports to zero.
